In this course, students will explore the themes and issues related to their lives and to the Spanish-speaking global world to learn persuasive writing, to make sophisticated comparisons of cultures and global perspectives, write formal correspondence, and demonstrate multiple levels of comprehension of texts and other sources. Students and the teacher will work together to explore and use new academic Spanish to accomplish these goals, so that students can hone a formal register of language that they can use when they need to. In addition to these goals, students will take the AP Spanish Language and Culture test on Tuesday, May 8 at 8:00am, with the potential of earning credit for college courses. The course will be conducted entirely in Spanish, and students will use Spanish exclusively while in class. Students will also be expected to do their own Spanish linguistic and cultural enrichment activities in order to deepen their understanding of Spanish speaking communities around us, and their own ownership of the language.
